During the trip, the family is expected to stay at a royal residence after accepting an invitation that had previously been extended to them for future visits. The decision has fueled speculation that relations between the Sussexes and the Royal Family may be gradually improving.
Harry and Meghan stepped back from their senior royal roles in 2020 and relocated to California, where they began building an independent life. Since then, their relationship with the Royal Family has been strained, with the couple publicly citing intense media scrutiny, personal family conflicts, and concerns about racism within British institutions as major reasons for their departure.
Although Prince Harry has returned to the UK on several occasions in recent years, Meghan has only made limited visits, including attending Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022. Harry also traveled alone for King Charles III’s coronation in 2023. Last year, he met privately with King Charles following the monarch’s cancer diagnosis, a meeting that sparked renewed discussion about the possibility of reconciliation. After losing publicly funded security following his departure from royal duties, Harry had previously expressed concerns about bringing his family back to Britain. The July visit will also highlight Prince Harry’s charitable work, including events marking one year until the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. Meghan is expected to accompany him at several Invictus-related engagements in London, while their children will remain out of the public spotlight, with no official appearances planned during the visit.
