ANKARA/RIYADH, Aug. 5 — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman on Monday, focusing on regional security, bilateral relations, and the implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan, as diplomatic efforts intensify to contain instability across the Middle East.

According to a statement released by Türkiye’s Communications Directorate, the two leaders exchanged views on the latest regional developments, with President Erdogan expressing Türkiye’s sorrow over recent attacks targeting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He reaffirmed Ankara’s unwavering commitment to supporting regional peace, stability, and security, emphasizing that closer coordination between Türkiye and Saudi Arabia remains essential in addressing the Middle East’s growing geopolitical challenges.

The leaders also reviewed the current state of Türkiye–Saudi relations, highlighting the importance of expanding strategic cooperation in political, security, and diplomatic fields. Officials said both sides agreed that sustained dialogue between Ankara and Riyadh is vital for preventing further regional escalation and promoting long-term stability.

The situation in Gaza featured prominently in the discussions. President Erdogan stressed that Israel’s full compliance with the agreed roadmap for the second phase of the Gaza Peace Plan is indispensable for the success of the peace process. He warned that any deviation from the agreed framework could undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts and jeopardize prospects for a lasting ceasefire.

“We are closely monitoring the developments,” Erdogan said, according to the official statement, reiterating Türkiye’s support for initiatives aimed at ending the conflict, protecting civilians, and ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza.

The phone call comes at a critical moment as regional and international actors continue diplomatic engagement to preserve the fragile ceasefire framework and prevent renewed violence in the Palestinian enclave. The Gaza Peace Plan has emerged as one of the central diplomatic initiatives intended to secure a permanent cessation of hostilities, facilitate humanitarian relief, and lay the groundwork for broader political negotiations.

Analysts say the conversation reflects the increasingly close coordination between Ankara and Riyadh on regional affairs following years of improving bilateral ties. Cooperation between the two influential regional powers is viewed as increasingly significant amid ongoing conflicts, security concerns, and shifting geopolitical dynamics across the Middle East.

The latest exchange also underscores Türkiye’s broader diplomatic strategy of engaging key regional partners to support conflict resolution and strengthen collective security mechanisms. As international efforts continue to advance the Gaza Peace Plan, both Türkiye and Saudi Arabia are expected to remain active participants in diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving a sustainable peace and preventing further instability across the region.
