According to Islamic belief, one of the most significant signs before the Day of Judgment is the return of Prophet Isa (peace be upon him) to the earth; authentic hadiths state that he will descend in the region of Sham, specifically in the city of Damascus in present-day Syria, at a historic mosque known as the Umayyad Mosque; the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him) will descend wearing two garments lightly dyed, placing his hands on the wings of two angels, at the white minaret on the eastern side of Damascus” (Sahih Muslim); scholars have explained that the “white minaret” refers to the eastern minaret of the Umayyad Mosque; after his descent, he will defeat the Dajjal (Antichrist), establish justice across the world, eliminate ظلم and oppression, and restore the true teachings of Islam in their complete and pure form; he will rule with fairness, break false beliefs, and call humanity toward the worship of the One God; this event is not merely a prophecy but a central part of Islamic creed that strengthens faith in the Hereafter, affirms the truthfulness of the Prophets, and highlights the certainty of Allah’s divine plan; it serves as a reminder that worldly life is temporary and that ultimate success lies in preparation for the life to come; therefore, believers are encouraged to strengthen their faith, follow the guidance of the Prophets, adhere to the Sunnah, stand against injustice, and place full trust in Allah; may Allah grant us sincere faith, increase our love for His Prophets, and give us the ability to prepare for the return of Isa (peace be upon him)—Ameen.
