London/Moscow — Russia has issued a sharp warning to the United Kingdom following reports that Ukrainian forces used British-made drones to conduct strikes deep inside Russian territory. Moscow claims that continued British military support for Ukraine is increasing the risk of direct Western involvement in the conflict and warns that London could eventually face “consequences” for its actions.
According to a report by The Sunday Times, Ukrainian forces have used long-range drones manufactured by British companies to strike targets in several Russian regions, including Volgograd and Yaroslavl. The reported targets include oil refineries and industrial infrastructure.
The Russian Embassy in London said in a statement that the alleged use of British weapons in attacks deep inside Russia demonstrates what it described as an increasing risk of the UK becoming directly involved in the conflict. Moscow has accused London of intensifying what it characterizes as a “proxy war” against Russia by providing military assistance to Ukraine.
The embassy warned that Britain’s actions could have “inevitable consequences,” arguing that the greater the UK’s involvement in the conflict, the greater the potential cost.
Britain, meanwhile, has maintained its commitment to supporting Ukraine. The UK Ministry of Defence has repeatedly stated that military assistance to Kyiv will continue as part of efforts to help Ukraine defend itself against Russian aggression.
Ukraine has significantly increased long-range drone operations against targets inside Russia in recent months, with energy and fuel infrastructure emerging as key targets. Kyiv’s strategy is aimed at disrupting Russian military logistics, energy supplies and economic capacity. Moscow, however, regards such attacks as direct assaults on Russian territory.
Russia’s Defence Ministry has frequently reported intercepting large numbers of Ukrainian drones, although battlefield claims made by both sides are often difficult to independently verify.
